The Bolivarian government of the state of Aragua, through the mayor's office of José Félix Ribas, will begin to apply fines to motorcyclists who drive without a safety helmet.
The measure was announced by Mayor Juan Carlos Sánchez, who stressed that the main objective is to guarantee road safety in the face of the high rate of accidents involving motorcycles. Sánchez pointed out that this situation has become a public health problem that requires immediate attention from all levels of government, according to a regional press report.
“The fines will range approximately $100. However, our goal is not to raise money, but to save lives. What really matters to us is to prevent people from being injured, becoming disabled or losing their lives,” said the local president.
