The governor of the state of Zulia, Luis Caldera, announced the delivery of the first 50 linear km of road rehabilitated on Troncal 6, in the Perijá axis, during an inspection visit carried out at the Virgen del Carmen toll booth, in the parish of Libertad, municipality of Machiques.

“We arrived with joy and commitment to the Virgen del Carmen toll booth to deliver the first 50 linear km of road recovered by the Bolivarian Government, following instructions from President Nicolás Maduro, our president in charge Delcy Rodríguez and Minister Jacqueline Fanía,” said Caldera.

The governor specified that, in this phase, 82,300 tons of hot asphalt were placed, 64 drainage channels were restored and eight sewer pipes were replaced. He added that the state's asphalting plan continues throughout Zulia.

“On Monday, the second phase starts from 104 to the Virgen del Carmen toll booth, and we have already completed the third phase from La Cachamana. They are works for the integral development of the state of Zulia,” he said.

Mayor of Machiques de Perijá highlighted the regional impact of this first phase.

“There are 50 km that strengthen the connection between Zulia and the Andean states and guarantee the movement of food and goods. We continue to work together with carriers, producers and farmers for the well-being of all,” he said.

He thanked the governor for his support and the president in charge for her recent visit, stressing that viability is a fundamental service for the municipality.

The spokesman for the transport sector, Lendis Palmar, highlighted the reduction in travel times after the restructuring.

“Before, the trip to La Cachamana took an hour. Now we do it in 25 or 30 minutes. We arrived faster at our destination and that benefits everyone,” he said.
