Bolivarian Government rehabilitates Fortín El Vigía in La Guaira

The Bolivarian Government rehabilitated and reinaugurated the El Vigía Fort, a national historic monument located in the state of La Guaira, works with an investment of more than 620 thousand dollars.

The minister of popular power for culture, Ernesto Villegas, highlighted the historical importance of the fort, which during the colonial era and the independence struggle served as a warning point for the arrival of boats.

“Now that the pirates of the Caribbean have returned, so has Fortín El Vigía, with a standing people defending their right to a merry Christmas,” he said.

For his part, Mayor José Manuel Suárez explained that among the works carried out are the installation of drinking water and wastewater systems, the reconstruction of two bathroom batteries, the improvement of roads, the installation of a stone alluding to the colonial era, a children's playground, a biosaludable area and a lighting system to allow night access. In addition, a police module was built that will operate 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of visitors.
