The Bolivarian Government extends greetings and congratulations to the Government and the People of Namibia on the occasion of the 36th Anniversary of its Independence, an achievement that is the result of decades of courageous struggle against the apartheid regime in South Africa.
Through his Telegram channel, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, said that “Venezuela joins this celebration of the sovereignty and self-determination of the Namibian people, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening ties of friendship, cooperation and peaceful diplomacy with the nations of mother Africa.”
On March 21, 1990, Namibia proclaimed its definitive independence and elected Sam Nujoma as president of the new independent state.
The relationship between the two nations remains firm under the principles of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, focused on the construction of a multicentric and multipolar world, free from colonial hegemonic practices.
