Bolivia activated a state of emergency due to rains in 279 municipalities

This Sunday, the Deputy Minister of Civil Defense of Bolivia, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, reported that the state of alert was activated in the South American nation due to the intense rains that hit 85% of municipalities.

 

In this regard, he explained that 279 municipalities are on “orange alert” and 10 are on “red alert”.

 

“Three municipalities are on 'red alert' in the department of La Paz (west), in Cochabamba (center) there are six municipalities and in Santa Cruz (east) one,” he said.

 

In addition, Calvimontes called for informing at-risk populations and for Emergency Operations Committees to act in a coordinated manner to execute the corresponding Contingency Plans.
