Brazilian authorities arrest three people in failed attack in Rio de Janeiro

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil reported that an intelligence operation prevented planned attacks in the city center from being carried out.

The operation, called Chain Break, was carried out by the Cyber Crime Suppression Division (DRCI) and resulted in the arrest of three people, the international agency Sputnik said.

According to the police, the investigations identified groups planning anti-democratic acts using improvised devices, such as homemade bombs and Molotov cocktails. One of the demonstrations was scheduled in front of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Throughout the day, dozens of search and seizure orders were executed in homes in the capital, the metropolitan region and the interior of the state.
