The recent wave of forest fires that hit Henri Pittier National Park last month put environmental protection teams in the state of Aragua on high alert. The flames, which consumed hectares of critical vegetation, not only affected the local flora, but also displaced and endangered numerous species that inhabit this mountainous ecosystem.

In the midst of the fight against fire, the protection teams located three fox cubs that were trapped and in conditions of extreme vulnerability. The rescue of these specimens occurred in a hostile environment of smoke and high temperatures, where the rapid intervention of officials was decisive in preventing small animals from perishing as the fire progressed.

Faced with the destruction of their natural habitat, the puppies were evacuated as an emergency and taken to the Las Delicias Zoo in Maracay. This relocation measure was necessary because the area where they were found was devastated by fire, eliminating any possibility of autonomous survival for the specimens in the short term.

This event underlines the seriousness of forest fires as a direct threat to the country's biodiversity. While foxes remain under medical observation and special care, environmental authorities reiterate the call for prevention, stressing that conservation efforts are vital to mitigate the ecological scars left by these catastrophes in our national parks.
