The president of Criabúfalos, Felipe Rodríguez, highlighted that 40% of the milk that goes to cheese comes from buffalo cattle. “We are the only sector that has maintained a year-on-year growth of 12%,” he said.

When asked about the challenges faced by buffalo breeding producers in Venezuela, he mentioned that “we are an alternative for livestock production in the country”, since today they represent 20% of the herd and about 15% of meat consumption, according to a note published by VTV.

As for dairy products derived from buffalo, he highlighted that 40% of the milk that goes to cheese comes from these cattle.

These statements were made during an interview within the framework of the IV Expo National Fair 2026, whose edition focuses on the competition of dairy and meat products derived from buffalo, goat and sheep cattle.

The member of the National Academy of Gastronomy (AVG), Marianella Abadi, highlighted that the country's regional cuisine is made up of products derived from cattle that predominate at this fair.

Abadi is part of the jury that tasted dairy products, and indicated that they will try those derived from buffalo, goat and sheep milk, including: mozzarella cheese, burrata cheese, spun pasta, and others.

He highlighted that the AGV, with the National Program for Regional Kitchens, seeks to document and disseminate Venezuelan cuisine based on livestock products, because it is important to “value the raw material and recognize it.”
