By knockout! Carlos Cañizales wins mini-fly boxing title for Venezuela

Venezuelan Carlos Cañizales won the World Boxing Council (WBC) mini-fly world title this Friday, beating Thai Panya Pradabsri by knockout at the Caracas Polyhedron.

The fight ended in the fifth round. From the first round, Cañizales took control and put pressure on his rival against the ropes. The cards favored the Venezuelan during the first three episodes, thanks to their aggressiveness and precision.

Pradabsrí responded in some passages, but the Venezuelan's offensive set the tone for the victory allowed him to settle an outstanding account that he had since December 2024, when he lost to the same rival in Bangkok, Thailand, and to return to Venezuela a minor champion after four years.
