The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, warned Venezuelans and invited them not to fall into manipulation.

“The manipulators came out to tell people that until July 18 they had a chance of changing candidates in the presidential elections, that's not true,” said Cabello Rondón and urged them to read article 44 of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes.

Article 44 states that the “electoral schedule shall establish the periods provided for nominations. Nominations entered outside the period specified in the electoral schedule will be extemporaneous and will be considered as not submitted.”

In that sense, he argued that there can be no application that has not been in the established schedule, “because otherwise the Law declares it extemporaneous, that is, it does not exist”.

“You can't replace someone who hasn't been nominated previously, that's very clear, if they use their electoral offer with a lie, they're going to look like liars. It can only be replaced by someone who is running for office, otherwise it is another process, the National Electoral Council would have to call a new process, different from the one that is already running,” he said
