Cabello: Captured mercenaries have been prosecuted as established by law

The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reported this Thursday that the mercenaries captured, for terrorist plans against Venezuela, have been prosecuted as established by law.

“All these citizens have already been judicialized, complying with the times established by the Law and giving them the guarantees as established by the Law, but doing the investigations as appropriate,” he said during a press conference from the Ministry for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace.

He reaffirmed that all those captured are doing well, since “no one has been mistreated, we don't do that here, they do that in Guantánamo, they do it elsewhere.” At the same time, he indicated that thanks to the confessions of the mercenaries, they have made it possible to advance the investigation into terrorist plans against Venezuela, because they are linked to criminals, arms trafficking and politicians.

“We said last time that all these citizens have a branch with Yorman Barillas, from the state of Zulia, a fugitive from justice for having murdered a young man (...) he is part of this network of mercenaries against his own country,” he said.

He reaffirmed that these citizens of Spanish, Czech and Peruvian nationality, “have been presented in the corresponding instance”.

In turn, he indicated that the names of judges and prosecutors who prosecute these individuals are not disclosed, “to protect the national justice system from mercenaries and terrorists, we are obliged to protect their integrity.”
