The sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public
Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, denounced this Friday the campaign that Venezuela
has been subjected to in recent months to confuse it with false information about links to drug trafficking.
“Venezuela has been subjected to a terrible campaign in recent
months to try to tarnish it with false information,
with what they now call fake news, what we know as lies,” he said during the Congress Drug Use and Juvenile
Delinquency: Justice with a Human Face from the Supreme
Court of Justice (TSJ).
He emphasized that the attacks against our Homeland
are not recent, since they began with the arrival of Commander
Hugo Chávez to the presidency of the Republic.
He recalled how the governments
of the Fourth Republic acted in Venezuela. “Massacres were being committed here every day.
What investigation came to an end? Who investigated the Cantaura Massacre?
(...) What happened in Yumare?” , he questioned.
He also pointed out that at that time in our territory, the most terrible body in the world, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), came to operate openly in our territory.
“The DEA ruled here in Venezuela and nothing happened (...) here the U.S. military mission operated from Fort Tiuna, our sovereignty was handed over to foreign countries and specifically the United States,” he said.
In addition, he stressed that neither Father Simon Bolivar nor Commander Hugo Chávez nor President Nicolás Maduro have been wrong about their position against the United States. “We have nothing against the American people, but we do have against those who govern, who are elites and corporations,” he said and reaffirmed that the best decision was to drive the American mission and the DEA out of our territory.
