The general
secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV),
Diosdado Cabello Rondón,
a few days after commemorating one of the most
repressive and bloody days in contemporary
Venezuelan history, El Caracazo, recalled that Commander Hugo Chávez
said that this was the first expression of the original constituent power without a summons.
“It was
the first
expression
of the original constituent power without convening and it was ignored by
those who governed this country, they continued to turn their backs on the people,”
said
Cabello Rondón, during a press conference held
by the National Directorate of the
PSUV.
He asserted
that on February 27 and 28, 1989, the people were massacred. “In the
Ministry of Defense,
when
they reached
3,600
dead, they stopped counting.”
“They picked
up the people killed with payloader
machines, threw
them in a truck and buried
them hidden in a place that they
named L
a Peste,” he said.
The
Plague was the largest mass grave in Caracas, located in the Southern Cemetery . Cabello
said that the
name was
given to Richard
Blanco,
who
worked in the Ministry of Defense.
