In his Con El Mazo Dando program, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, lamented the social situation experienced by the Chilean people, victims of transnational corporations that own all public services and that impose tariffs that the majority cannot afford while the government of President Gabriel Boric does nothing to stop neoliberalism.

“The problem with the protests in Chile is that they finished privatizing electricity and now more than two million people don't have to pay for electricity because everything is privatized while its president Gabriel Boric is an employee of transnational corporations,” said the PSUV deputy.

In this country, the General Law on Electrical Services was enacted, a legal body that laid the foundations for the privatization of the electricity sector that was previously in the hands of the State.

In 2019, protests promoted measures of the “New Social Agenda”, which included freezing the prices of some services and changes in the country's social security and wage improvements. However, these measures were temporary and a few years later the release of tariffs returned.
