The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reported that almost 70 tons of drugs were seized, one of the highest numbers recorded in the country's history after the break with the DEA.
“This year, after breaking with the DEA, we have achieved the largest drug capture in its history, except the year after breaking with the DEA; almost 70 tons of drugs confiscated,” Cabello said during the delivery of units to the security forces in Los Proceres.
He congratulated the police forces that, every day, tirelessly, do everything possible to prevent drug trafficking.
“These are the achievements of this work team and we must recognize them, there is no night here, there is no happy birthday here, there is no Holy Week or Christmas or New Year here. Here we assume our responsibility as civil servants, as ordinary men and women who love what they do,” he said.
He stressed that these actions are part of the ongoing fight against criminal organizations that seek to generate concern, doubts and fears in the population. “Our people have been able to overcome. Nothing stops our people,” he said.
Cabello stressed that, despite the threats that continue to weigh on the country, citizens continue to live normally. “Anyone who comes from wherever they come from can feel the peace of mind. Today, compared to 2024, we have more than 330 fewer homicides. They are 340 lives, 340 families. It's not just the number, it's the life of each person,” he said. He indicated that Venezuela currently has one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.
The sector vice-president recalled that, after leaving the DEA, Venezuela has achieved the largest drug seizures in its history.
Cabello assured that State security agencies are deployed throughout the national territory. He reiterated that the central orientation is for the population to perceive police forces as allies. “We all come from the village. The People have to feel that when they see an alcabala or a point of attention they can say: 'I got to where my friends are, these are mine, I'm calm, '” he said.
He reported that, throughout 2025, an internal review of the behavior of police officers was carried out, leading to the separation of those who committed misconduct. “The police officer is there to protect our people. Whoever does not meet that condition cannot be part of the security forces,” he said.
