This Wednesday, January 22, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, emphasized that the real reason why far-right leaders call for abstention is so that new options do not emerge within their ranks.

“They (the extreme right) will continue, every time they lose an election, so that no one else comes up, they call for abstention,” Cabello said during his Con El Mazo Dando No. 512 program.

In that sense, he referred to the call made by La Sayona (María Corina Machado) not to participate in elections and assured that this is so that no one will take his foot away. “Because she knows that behind her comes a crowd to remove the position, a position that she earned by force of a ticket and not by leadership,” he said.
