This Monday, August 25, the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reaffirmed that Venezuela maintains good relations with the current government of Colombia and the call is for it to take action to protect the Colombian-Venezuelan border.

Fortunately, we have a very good relationship with the current government of Colombia (...) but since we are deployed on this side (...) we have asked for reciprocity on the Colombian side; everyone, attending to their border; if Colombia serves its border and we serve ours, what will be the result? Success. There will be no type of crime around the borders and for our Peoples to do what they have historically done, to live in peace,” he said at a press conference.

He recalled that Venezuela and Colombia, in addition to having permanent contact through their national authorities, maintain a binational zone of peace, which includes Táchira and Zulia. In addition, he noted that “we are already preparing peace zone number 2 and 3, which require planning, and we already have deployments in those areas.

He also noted that all actions taken by State security forces on the Venezuelan border were reported to the Colombian government, who expressed their pleasure.
