This Friday, the Sectorial Vice President for Policy, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, made statements to the press to announce a severe blow to drug trafficking and links with the extreme right, which are part of the way in which destabilizing plans are financed.
“You can't explain the anger against our country, the desperation against our country,” said Cabello, adding, “that after the spill of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is shut down, drug trafficking is the only entry of financiers into extremist groups of the Venezuelan right.”
He also reaffirmed that “Álvaro Uribe (Vélez) is the culprit of drugs that come from Colombian territory and are used to conspire against our country through a network of corruption, terrorism and drug trafficking”.
“It's impossible for anyone to say that this is happening in Venezuelan territory,” he said, noting that 16,308.10 grams of high-purity cocaine have been seized. “Someone has a pain in their pocket and you know that this drug comes out and someone consumes it a little further north... They are the biggest users of cocaine in the world!”
In this regard, the Sectorial Vice President for Policy, Public Security and Peace, assured that at this point “only in movies have I seen a drug trafficking gang captured,” and he also stressed that drugs easily reach the neighborhoods of that country in the North.
Cabello added that “camps have been discovered to train paramilitaries, purchase of officials at all levels; the list of detainees is very long, we could say very long and right now we are still looking for more drugs.”
