This Monday, the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, during the usual press conference of the National Directorate of that red awning, recalled that during 2002 the fascist extreme right sought to annul the Constitution.

“What they (the fascist extreme right) did to abolish the Constitution in 2002 was not a mistake,” said Cabello, questioning the misguided opinion of Jesús María Casal. He stressed, and also assured that “the Constitution contemplates its reform and it is here”.

With regard to the proposal, he pointed out that there are two options to test or deny it in a referendum, “this was not the case before in the Constitution of 61 a constituent Congress to make a constitution and they approved it and swallowed it like a pill.”

In this regard, the general secretary of the PSUV recalled with the arrival of the Revolution, “a reform was attempted in 2007 through a proposal that was not approved and then an amendment was passed; for Casal, this Constitution is a mistake, which contemplates that it is no longer representative but participatory, that the power of native peoples is recognized, that talk about women is a mistake for him”.

“Since 2007 to this time, there have been changes that require the need to annex articles to the Constitution to favor our people,” he said and pointed out as part of the democratic process that, through the VEN platform, meetings were held on July 28 for the reform proposals.
