The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, pointed out that the hierarchy of the Catholic Church is part of the country's opposition.

“There is no need to make a difference between the church hierarchy and the opposition, because those who lead the Catholic Church in the country are part of the Venezuelan opposition,” Cabello said during the press conference of the National Directorate of the PSUV.

In this regard, he indicated that the representatives of this Catholic Church are political actors who defend the interests of the right.

Cabello's statements are due to the fact that the rector of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), Arturo Peraza, said that there must be a dialogue between the opposition and the National Government to which the revolutionary leader responded:

“We talk here every day and the main operator of the dialogue is Jorge Rodríguez.”

He stressed that there is a majority opposition sector “that has ongoing talks with Jorge and Héctor. They recently met with all 37 parties,” he said.
