The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela
(PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, this Thursday instructed the governors,
mayors and revolutionary deputies not to intervene in an authoritarian manner in the
election of the Bolivarian Integral Street Committees, which will be
defined in grassroots popular assemblies in all the streets of the country on November 8, 9, 15 and 16.
From the Guayana Esequiba auditorium, in Caracas,
Cabelló urged regional leaders to let “the street show (...) whoever I found out is doing
that, the National Directorate finds out, is
coming here and will be passed to the Party's Disciplinary Committee,” he warned.
He pointed out that this is a demonstration of democracy. “This goes without
saying, because that hasn't happened for a long time. But
clear accounts preserve friendships, I like to say so. No, that 'I'm the mayor,
I'm the one who says where the meetings are going'. Assemblies go wherever the people on the
street say they are going,” he emphasized.
