This Monday, October 27, the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted that the canonization of our new saints, Dr. José Gregorio Hernández (JGH) and Mother Carmen Rendiles, took place in peace and quiet, despite the sectors that intended to sabotage it.

“Look that there were attempts to sabotage something so beautiful for the People, that the People waited for years, for decades; there were people who wanted to play the leading role, to pass over the protagonists, the protagonists were José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles, but there are people who believe that they are the protagonists,” he said during the PSUV press conference.

In this regard, he recalled that for a long time the Ecclesiastical Hierarchy imposed obstacles to the canonization of the one also known as the Saint of the Poor. In addition, he referred to the song that the musician Daniel Santos dedicated to JGH and which was censored, banned and execrated by that sector.

He stressed that fortunately the canonization process was able to take place and today we officially have two Venezuelan saints. “Those who intended to sabotage were left wanting, they were left stranded wanting,” he said.
