Call for the International Essay Competition “Sovereignty, Imperialism and Critical Thinking” is still open

The Ministry of Popular Power for Culture of Venezuela (MPPC), through the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in collaboration with the prestigious Casa de Las Américas (Cuba) and the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, is keeping the call open for the International Essay Contest “Sovereignty, Imperialism and Critical Thinking”.
The call is for writers from all over the world to delve into and reflect on crucial issues of contemporary reality from a critical perspective.
Those interested in participating have the deadline for submitting their works on December 31, via email: [email protected]. Works with more than one author are accepted.
To participate, it is necessary to send two attached and separate PDF files:
• File A. Essay with a minimum length of 10 pages and a maximum of 30, written in 1.5 spaces, in Times New Roman font, size 12, signed under a pseudonym.
• File B. Title of the essay, pseudonym and full details of the author (full name, place of birth, address, telephone number, email and a brief biographical review).
The contest will award a single cash prize of one thousand US dollars ($1,000.00). In addition, the winning essay and other outstanding works will be published, and their authors will receive a certificate.
The jury will be announced in due course and its decision will be announced on May 4, 2026, through the media and digital networks of the convening institutions. Participation implies full acceptance of the contest rules.
