The municipality of El Callao is preparing to receive more than 40,000 tourists during the celebration of Carnival 2026, which will take place between February 12 and 17, said the mayor of the jurisdiction, Coromoto Lugo.

Among them are calypso groups, fantasy troupes, schools of devils, Madamas and mediopinto, who will bring to life the tradition that has marked the identity of the Callao people for more than 150 years.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the Madamas Mass, which is celebrated at midnight on Carnival Sunday, followed by a great troupe with more than 800 medium paintings, iconic characters who will walk the streets to the rhythm of calypso.
Regarding accommodation capacity, Lugo reported that the 700 beds available in hotels and inns are already occupied. However, he highlighted the hospitality of Callao families, who have enabled their homes to receive visitors, thus ensuring that no one is left without accommodation.
The mayor stressed that carnivals not only represent a festive date but also a space of historical memory and economic revitalization, where culture, music and tradition become an engine of development for the region.
