Venezuela is moving towards technological sovereignty with the manufacture of the first fully assembled points of sale (POS) in the country, the result of the strategic alliance between Industrias Canaima, an entity attached to the Ministry of Science and Technology, and TopWise Venezuela, which marks the beginning of a new phase in the production of financial devices in the country, traditionally dependent on imports.
The general director of Production at Industrias Canaima, Ing. Roger Castellano, stressed that this achievement responds to a vision of the country that was developed more than a decade ago with Commander Hugo Chávez and that today is maintained by President Nicolás Maduro.
“We are here realizing a dream that our commander Hugo Chávez once envisioned in 2011, where he basically understood that we should create technological independence. We should strive to create our own identity in terms of technology,” Castellano stressed.
Castellanos, according to a press release, explained that this project represents an act of resistance to the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government.
Regarding the product, he indicated that almost all the equipment is already being assembled, which starts with the T1 Pro, the flagship device, which has a “5G connection, fiscal printer, proximity sensor, chip reader and a fully touch screen”.
In addition to this model, adapted to the needs of the market, there is the M3P, which is similar to the T1 model but more compact, also with a “fiscal printer, proximity sensor and 5G connection”, while the M3, is a smaller and more versatile device, without a fiscal printer, “oriented a little more to small and medium-sized enterprises and informal commerce”.
The domestic manufacture of points of sale will make it possible to replace imports, lower costs, strengthen the industry and energize the country's financial ecosystem.
For her part, Laura Silva, commercial director of Top Wise Venezuela, indicated that this project marks a before and after in the payment industry in the country since, in Venezuela, there was no company that made sales points, so it had to be imported.
“There is no other company in Venezuela that manufactures these outlets. Already today, companies or aggregates that handle this type of product and market it within the country don't have to go abroad, they don't have to look for other technologies, they don't have to leave Venezuela,” he said.
In addition, he explained that 500 points of sale are being manufactured daily, thanks to the alliance established in 2025 with Industrias Canaima and the Ministry of Science and Technology
