This Monday, May 4, members of the Caracas Fire Department extinguished a vegetation fire on El Guayabo street in the El Peñón sector, Baruta municipality, Miranda state.
The rapid intervention of officials prevented the spread of flames to neighboring residential areas. After receiving a telephone report on the presence of fire in the area, a fire commission from the capital moved to a fire suppression unit.
Once at the site, fire crews confirmed that the accident affected an area of approximately 10 square meters of bamboo forest. This plant species is highly combustible, so it required specialized technical management for its control.
The rescue team carried out the necessary tasks to suffocate the fire by means of a constant water discharge. This technique made it possible to lower the temperature of the soil and flora, in addition to eliminating hot spots to remove embers or debris that could reactivate the fire under the influence of wind or heat.
The effective action of the Fire Knights allowed total control of the event without reporting material damage to homes or harm to people.
The Caracas Fire Department urged citizens to avoid burning waste or throwing flammable objects into green areas. Prevention is the most effective tool for protecting plant lungs and the safety of communities.
