In the context of the current dry period in the country, the Forest Fire Department of the National Park Institute (INPARQUES) plans and coordinates actions as part of the preparation process to deal with possible fires and other contingencies that may occur in the national parks and protected areas of Caracas.

According to the newspaper Úlmas Noticias, the first commander Germán Gutiérrez led a strategic meeting with members of the Capital District Forest Coordination to evaluate, among other things, the progress and implementation of the Forest Fire Operational Plan in the metropolitan area, with the objective of providing a rapid and coordinated response to possible events that may occur during the drought period.

The meeting also addressed training issues for firefighters, such as the execution of a special course and the planning of another one on investigating the causes of forest fires for active-duty civil servants.

“With these actions, we reaffirm our dedication and commitment to the protection of our national parks and natural areas throughout the Capital Region,” the entity said in its unavailable Instagram stories.

For its part, IMPARQUES invited citizens to report outbreaks of forest fires through the number 0800-AMBIENTE (262-43-68) and at the headquarters of the forest firefighters belonging to the institution.
