Cardenales de Lara, as the first pick in the Additions and Substitutes Draft of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), focused on trying to reinforce pitching with a view to the Round Robin semifinal that starts on January 2, 2026 and which will have -quite surely- the 'red birds' at home.

“We took into consideration the weaknesses that we could present in the regular round, which is why we are inclined to strengthen pitching,” said the general manager of the twilight team, Carlos Miguel Oropeza during the Draft and in statements collected by the club's Press Department, regarding the selection of only pitchers in the three rounds; which include the Tigers closer, Ronnie Williams, as the first global choice.

Ronnie Williams had a great season, the fact that he showed the ability to be able to pitch on consecutive days was a highlight when choosing him, and he will be an important player in the relay,” added the executive about that first round.

In the second place, the current LVBP champions took Wilmer Font, starter of the Caracas Lions, who reunited with the circuit after nine years of absence. In eight regular season starts, the Guaireño set a 3-3 record and a 4.95 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched. In addition, he struck out 29 rivals, awarded eight tickets and his WHIP was 1.51.
