The new current president of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Drew, issued a strong call for regional cohesion in the face of growing geopolitical tension resulting from the presence of United States (US) troops in the area.

Drew urged the 15 member states of the bloc to act with political maturity and to speak with one voice, under the premise that “no one will come to save us”, to protect the interests of Caribbean peoples in the face of foreign policy decisions that threaten the stability of CARICOM.

Prime Minister Drew, who will serve as president of the organization from January 1 to June 30, 2026, acknowledged that national differences have attracted global attention, but recalled that CARICOM's strength lies precisely in its ability to resolve disagreements constructively.

“We must save ourselves. CARICOM was created as a forum where our collective strength is always greater than any individual issue,” the president said in an official statement.
