This Friday, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) insisted on its demand for the total lifting of the blockade
economic, commercial and financial, imposed on Cuba by the United States more than six decades ago.
The Prensa Latina agency indicated that in a statement that appeared on its official website, the organization acknowledged that it took note of the decision of the US Government to invalidate the designation of the Caribbean island as a state alleged sponsor of terrorism.
The text describes the decision of the Joe Biden government as a step in the right direction because of the consequences it causes to the lives of the population and to the Cuban economy.
The proclamation recalls that CARICOM permanently advocates the elimination of the blockade and insists on the need to “dismantle the obsolete and discriminatory measures” that this policy means.
The 14 countries that are part of the consultation mechanism have historically maintained a common position of rejection of this punitive policy and the call for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of sponsors of terrorism.
