The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, ratified this Saturday the re-importance of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy to preserve the lives of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped by the United States (USA) on January 3.

During a massive march in El Valle parish in the Venezuelan capital to demand the release of the Head of State and his wife, Meléndez recalled the president's repeated calls for dialogue and peace.

“Right now we are continuing with our president in charge, Dr. Delcy Rodríguez, and she told us three fundamental bases for us to continue in this battle, in struggle, in victory, in resistance, with Commander Chávez and with our president Nicolás Maduro we have resisted over the past few years,” he said.

In this regard, he stressed that the president in charge has reiterated that “we have to be intelligent, strategic because from here on we have to preserve the lives of our president Nicolás Maduro and our first fighter Cilia Flores.”

“We have to do this strategically because, first of all, to preserve their lives so that they return to our homeland in the shortest possible time. Second, to preserve the peace of our Homeland. We have to continue this work, like this on the street, in protest against the vile attack they did to us,” he emphasized.
