The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, participated this Tuesday in the meeting of the Expanded Troika of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and China, to explore common interests to promote joint cooperation, in the context of the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), which is being held in New York.

Through his Telegram channel, the Gil explained that they made progress “in cooperation for development and mutual benefit”, and stressed that, “in this multipolar context, in which solidarity between peoples is fundamental, our objective is to strengthen collaboration and promote sustainable economic growth for the well-being of all.”

Relations between China and Latin America and the Caribbean have acquired important relevance over the past 20 years. This has happened in a context of profound transformations in the international order, determined by the rise of the Asian country in the new world order.

CELAC takes advantage of the seven days of the Assembly's general debate to approach nations and regional mechanisms from other continents. The Expanded Troika is composed of the State that holds the Pro Tempore Presidency, the one that preceded it in that responsibility and the one that will succeed it in the responsibility, plus a member State of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), represented by the one who exercises its Pro Tempore residence.
