At the rhythm of the drums, the Venezuelan delegation that became two-time champion of the VII Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games Córdoba 2025 was welcomed at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, with a total of 199 medals in the overall medal table.
In the Colombian event, Venezuela won 103 gold medals, accompanied by 56 silver and 40 bronze medals to revalidate the title of the last edition held in Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda in 2023, when the Venezuelan representation registered 251 medals (137 gold, 82 silver and 32 bronze) with the participation of 216 athletes in 12 disciplines.
The athletes from the disciplines of 3×3 basketball, karate, weightlifting, table tennis, volleyball, among others, were welcomed by the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, together with the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, María Soto and the Deputy Minister of Massification of Sports, Juan Amarante.
The head of the sports portfolio highlighted the “historic performance” of the Venezuelan delegation and the international projection of the new National Sports System.
“Receive congratulations from our president Nicolás Maduro Moros, who has closely followed your achievements. Of 157 athletes, 152 won medals; that means an effectiveness of 94%, a historic fact for Venezuelan sports,” said the minister.
Cardillo also stressed that this is just the beginning of a new phase of sporting success for the country. “We are preparing to continue to win victories in the next Bolivarian and Youth Olympic Games. These results are proof that Venezuela has a golden generation that is being formed with discipline, study and commitment,” Cardillo said.
