Centro Caribe Sports evaluates Caracas as a possible venue for the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games

The Executive Committee of Centro Caribe Sports formally began the process of evaluating the application of Caracas to host the XXVI Central American and Caribbean Games 2030.

The information was released by the Caribe Sports Center through a statement, after the approval of the road map, of the application submitted by the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (VOC), which will have a period of 90 days to submit the final file demonstrating the technical, financial and institutional viability of the Venezuelan capital.

This formal procedure, which includes field inspections and the final review by the Executive Committee for a possible Extraordinary Assembly, is reactivated after being temporarily rescheduled due to the contingencies caused by the earthquakes registered in the country.

The Executive Committee of Centro Caribe Sports approved the roadmap for the evaluation of the candidacy submitted by the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (VOC), so that the city of Caracas is considered to host the XXVI Central American and Caribbean Games 2030.

The decision represents the formal beginning of the procedure established in the Statutes and Regulations of Centro Caribe Sports to analyze the technical, financial, political and institutional viability of the candidacy, without implying the designation of Caracas as the venue for the regional event.

In accordance with the resolution approved by the Executive Committee, the Venezuelan Olympic Committee will have a maximum period of 90 days to submit the final application file, together with all the documentation required by the regional organization.

Once this documentation has been validated, the Committee on Future Venues will have up to 30 days to coordinate an inspection visit to the proposed city, with the purpose of evaluating on the ground the technical, operational and institutional conditions for the organization of the Games.

Subsequently, within 30 days following that visit, the Executive Committee will hear the report prepared by the Committee on Future Venues and will determine the steps to be taken, including the possible convening of an Extraordinary Assembly, the body competent to decide the venue of the XXVI Central American and Caribbean Games 2030.

The president of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía Oviedo, stressed that the approval of the roadmap constitutes the formal beginning of the procedure for evaluating the Venezuelan candidacy, which will be developed in accordance with the mechanisms established by the organization to guarantee an objective, transparent process in accordance with current regulations.

The Caracas candidacy has the official support of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, expressed in a communication dated May 20, 2026, in which the authorities expressed their institutional support for the project. That same day, the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, María Soto, formally submitted to Centro Caribe Sports the request for the Venezuelan capital to be considered as the venue for the 2030 edition.

The evaluation was originally scheduled for July 22, but was postponed due to earthquakes in Venezuela. With the approval of the road map, the Executive Committee resumed the formal evaluation procedure provided for in the regulations of Centro Caribe Sports for cities aspiring to organize the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games.
