The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reiterated this Monday that there is no “tension” between Venezuela and the United States (USA), but rather that it is an attempt at aggression by imperial forces.
During his speech at the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), within the framework of the 80th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), Gil emphasized that the Bolivarian Government is committed to peace in the face of threats against the country.
“The constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, has been taking, first of all, deterrence actions to prevent this conflict from escalating or trying to generate a conflict in a Caribbean region that would affect all nations,” he said.
In this regard, he pointed out that the South American nation has prepared itself “with the means we have available, with the mobilization available, with all the people active to deter, to prevent a conflict from being triggered in our region. And we are committed to peace.”
He said that “there is no controversy between Venezuela and the United States. It is false that there is a controversy between Venezuela and the United States, what there is is an attempt at aggression, promoted by political elements within the United States against a sovereign country.”
