The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, confirmed on Tuesday the importance of the cooperative relationship between Venezuela and Russia, highlighting the signing of more than 340 bilateral agreements in various areas of mutual interest.

“Already this year we have reached more than 340 agreements signed between Venezuela and the Russian Federation,” said Gil from Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre at a joint press conference with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, who is visiting Caracas as part of his tour of Latin America.

The Venezuelan diplomat stressed that both nations “have built a very important strategic relationship (...) that has to do with the energy area, the economic and financial area, the sports area, the cultural area, tourism, industry, agriculture, in short, comprehensive cooperation in all aspects.”

In addition, he stated that “Russia and Venezuela share principles on the international stage, specifically we refer to our navigation chart, which is the Charter of the United Nations, which we have seen in recent years been vilified, attacked by countries that call themselves part of the international community and use this scenario to attack through sanctions and unilateral coercive measures.”
