Chancellor Yván Gil: Marco Rubio “has found himself with a wall of dignity”

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, stressed that the Secretary of State of the United States (USA), Marco Rubio, “has found himself with a wall of dignity”, referring to the statement issued by the member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in rejection of the growing tensions promoted by the government of the North American nation in the region.

During a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Gil stressed that this is not a matter of ideological positions. “This is an issue of sovereignty, it's a matter of international law, it's a matter of dignity. And we are very proud to see that CELAC is going to face it, that all the efforts that have been made in diplomatic matters during all these years of validity (...) we see it with fruit,” he said.

In this regard, he stressed that Latin America and the Caribbean is “a worthy region, a region that is planted, that protects its territory and that tells the peoples of the world that we are united here against military aggression, against the threat of the use of force, against the use of force.”
