This Tuesday, March 25, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, assured that the American empire intends to “dictate the energy model to the Caribbean, with the 'model' of extortion, debt and submission.”

He added that he uses the aforementioned model, “while they impose sanctions and loot with their oil companies, we continue to send sovereign energy, without blackmail or military bases.”

The statement was made by Gil, on his social networks, when referring to a report about the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, who will travel to Jamaica, Guyana and Suriname from March 26 to 27.

In this regard, in his message, Gil comments that “the State Department talks about 'turning the page' with PETROCARIBE. Translation: they are desperate because they couldn't destroy it.”

In that regard, he assured that the North American government “hurts that PETROCARIBE is still alive. It's annoying that in the Caribbean they know that US 'aid' is always synonymous with submission.”

“So make no mistake: PETROCARIBE is the present and the future. It's sovereignty. And, above all, what the empire will never be: true solidarity,” he reaffirmed.

He rejected that “they accuse PETROCARIBE of corruption. What shamelessness, coming from those who finance coups and protect fascists while their oil companies loot without leaving anything to the peoples.”

The foreign minister also stressed that “they say that Guyana and Suriname will 'surpass Venezuela' in oil. They're not fooling anyone: they're looking for another loot for ExxonMobil, with Southern Command as their guardian.”
