Despite the illegal sanctions maintained by the United States Department of the Treasury (USA) against Venezuela, Chevron Corp. (CVX), an oil company filed tax returns for about 300 million dollars to the Bolivarian Government last year, according to information detailed by Bloomberg News this week.
Chevron documents state that its companies in the South American nation owed 8.1 billion bolivars to the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (Seniat), the Venezuelan tax agency, in March 2024, under its registered name in the country, Chevron Global Technology Services Company. The company is the sole payer of these companies.
The company Petropiar presented to Seniat the equivalent in bolivars of 217 million dollars in income tax in 2023; Petroboscan, where Chevron is involved, declared 83 million dollars (27 bolivars for one).
