Children from Barinas received training on the use of free software

The B.P. Libertad Infocentro located in the Rojas municipality of Barinas, successfully completed its workshop called: My Friend the Computer and the Magical World of Writing.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), boys, girls and young people aged between 10 and 16 years old participated in the activity, who combined playful learning with introduction to writing skills.

The central objective of the activity was for each of them to learn in a practical and entertaining way the basic parts of a computer, differentiating hardware from software, and acquiring essential guidelines for the care of their equipment.

In addition, participants became familiar with the concept of Free Software through the use of the Writer word processor.

During the workshop, they received a valuable introduction to the formality of professional documentation known as APA standards.

It was possible to prepare students for the future, from something as simple as putting bold and color, to the basic rules for good writing.
