The ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the Zionist state of Israel, Gabriel Zaliasnik, was accused by the Public Prosecutor's Office for his alleged involvement in irregularities and influence peddling for the appointment of positions in the Judiciary, the Prensa Latina agency reported.

The confirmation was made by the regional prosecutor of Valparaiso, Claudia Perivancich, as part of the investigations of the so-called "Audios Case “, a corruption and bribery scandal in which lawyer Luis Hermosilla is being prosecuted.

During the investigations, Hermosilla revealed the existence of a structure designed to influence judicial appointments, stating that “Gabriel Zaliasnik had more access than me to some ministers of the Court of Appeals, including the Supreme Court”, which evidences maneuvers to favor particular interests.

Given the progress of the judicial case, various political sectors in the South American nation have demanded the immediate dismissal of the diplomat, while Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna pointed out that the positions of diplomatic representation are under constant evaluation by the Executive.
