The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the United States to cease actions that limit the rights of the Cuban people to livelihood and development.

The position was expressed by spokesman Guo Jiakun during a press conference in Beijing, Xinhua reported.

Guo responded to a question about the complaint filed by the Cuban Government, which warns that Washington is considering strengthening the blockade imposed on the island. The spokesman said that his country views these measures with concern and rejects any initiative that increases tensions.

The United States must stop depriving the Cuban people of their rights to livelihood and development,” he said.

The spokesman called on the United States to abandon practices that alter regional stability, respect international law and immediately eliminate the economic restrictions applied against Cuba.
China will continue to do everything in its power to provide assistance and support to Cuba,” he added.

Guo stressed that Beijing is confident that Cuba will overcome the current situation under the direction of its authorities.
