China: Let the Palestinians rule Palestine

This Monday, the government of the People's Republic of China reaffirmed that the post-war administration in the Gaza Strip must adhere to the principle that “the Palestinians govern Palestine”, referring to the peace agreement that will be signed in the next few hours in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jians, said that his country “welcomes and supports all efforts that lead to the restoration of peace and the alleviation of the humanitarian crisis” in that territory, devastated after months of Israeli military offensive with financial and military support from the United States (US).

During the extermination, Israeli Zionism left 67,869 Palestinians killed and 170,105 injured since October 7, 2023.

“The highest priority is to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible, to ensure effective alleviation of the humanitarian crisis and to restore regional stability,” said Lin.

The diplomat stressed that “any agreement on the future of Gaza must respect the will of the Palestinian people and be consistent with the two-state solution”, a position that China has consistently held in international forums.
