China is planning to launch the Shenzhou-20 manned spacecraft to the Tiangong space station, as announced by the Asian nation's manned flight program office.

The Shenzhou-20 ship and the Long March 2F rocket have been transferred to the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, located in the northwest of the country. The technicians are currently working on the necessary inspections before takeoff and it is expected that the launch will take place soon, as reported by the authorities.

Although the identity of the crew members has not yet been revealed, previous reports suggest that it will consist of three astronauts, as published by the Sputnik web portal.

It should be noted that China began construction of the Tiangong orbital station in April 2021, culminating the installation of its basic configuration in November 2022.

The station has a capacity of 110 cubic meters and can accommodate three astronauts during normal operations or six during staff rotations. Its operational period is projected to 2038.
