China strongly condemned the United States for the interception of a Venezuelan fishing vessel

The government of the People's Republic of China strongly condemned the United States (USA) for the interception of a Venezuelan fishing vessel near its shores, calling the action a unilateral overreach and a violation of international norms.

“China opposed the US unilaterally exceeding the limits reasonably necessary to carry out so-called law enforcement against ships from other nations,” a statement said.

He also urged Washington to use bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks for judicial cooperation.

The statement reaffirmed China's position of firmly opposing “external forces interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs under any pretext.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed its support for the declarations proclaiming Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and for the initiative of the 33 countries in the region to establish a zone free of nuclear weapons, rejecting any action that undermines regional stability.

He also expressed his rejection of “the use or threat of the use of force in international relations” and highlighted his support for international cooperation to combat transnational crime, always with respect for the sovereignty of States.
