China expressed its categorical rejection of the United States' decision to apply an additional 10% tariff to its imports, a measure that will take effect on March 4.

The Asian country assured that it will take the “necessary” actions to protect its commercial interests.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce warned that, if Washington maintains its position, it will implement countermeasures to protect its legitimate rights. He also highlighted that these unilateral tariffs violate the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and weaken the multilateral system.

The institution noted that this increase will harm both consumers and American companies, in addition to destabilizing global supply chains, according to a press release from International Media.

China urged the U.S. government to take the path of equitable dialogue to resolve differences promptly.
