Cinemateca Nacional offers extensive programming in August

The National Cinematheque offers a rich program for this month of August, which includes a total of nine film screenings: from movie classics to tributes to great filmmakers.

It should be remembered that the screening room of this cultural institution is located behind the Museum of Fine Arts, next to Libertador Avenue, in the Plaza de los Museos, entrance to the Parque de Los Caobos in Caracas.

Centennial Classic Cinema (August 7)
The month began with the screening of the film The Man with the Wax Figures, directed by Paul Leni in Germany in 1924. This silent film work, with a duration of 84 minutes, will transport the audience to a world of mystery and fantasy.

1984: Dystopian Worlds
During these days, the Cinemateca will explore various works that will immerse those present in alternate and dystopian realities. Notable projections include:

Margot Benacerraf: Highlights of the month
The cultural institution will pay tribute to the renowned Venezuelan filmmaker and cultural promoter Margot Benacerraf (1926-2024), whose life and work are a testament to the power of cinema, so that the public will enjoy her most emblematic works:

Suspense lovers will enjoy a selection of iconic Alfred Hitchcock films in the Margot Benacerraf room, located at the National Experimental University of the Arts, and will include:

110 years of Julio Cortázar (From August 7th to 29th)

The legacy of the Argentinian literary master, Julio Cortázar, will be celebrated, and the screenings will take place in the Margot Benacerraf room with a special selection that includes:

The Cinemateca Nacional is committed to local talent, and will premiere the film Dimas and the escape from San Carlos directed by Juan Parada, scheduled for August 29 at 4:00 p.m.

Cultivators will explore the relationship between the famous Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges and cinema with various projections that illustrate his literary influence on the seventh art:
