Civic-military-police union develops comprehensive defense exercise Hugo Chávez Bolivarian Shield

This Saturday, November 30, the comprehensive defense exercise called Hugo Chávez Bolivarian Shield will take place throughout the national territory. From the city of Caracas, the mobilization included members of the Popular Power, Communes, social movements and parties of the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to Plaza O'Leary, in the Cathedral parish.

Carmen Meléndez, mayor of Caracas, said that “we have done this exercise to see what role we are going to play in the face of the threat; here they want to take Christmas away from us.”

He added that the Venezuelan people are willing to defend their institutions, themselves and the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela , Nicolás Maduro.

Afterwards, those present at the rally will go to Ezequiel Zamora Park, where they will share all the experiences, strengths and limitations detected. The official issued a call to the Shield of January 23 to protect the Mountain Barracks, while the Shield of the Historic Quarter defended the Miraflores Palace.

For his part, the head of government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, said that the Popular Shield exercise is a demonstration of force, and that Venezuelan citizens moved to defend the center of Caracas, against those who try to steal peace from the people through murders and riots.
