On the occasion of the rains recorded during the last few days to the northern area of the state of Táchira, a specialized technical commission for Civil Protection Táchira was deployed, together with the municipal authorities, specifically to the four affected municipalities: San Judas Tadeo, Panamericano, García de Hevia and Junín.
The director of Civil Protection Táchira, Yesnardo Canal, reported this Monday, April 6, that joint risk management commissions are still deployed in the municipality of San Judas Tadeo, where the increase in water flows left 30 families isolated as a result of the dragging of granular material on the road.
The operations and drone team carried out a survey in the Veradales and Mataguineo sectors. In the latter, the sediment obstructed a temporary passage that had been operating for two years.
“We have 30 families isolated due to the increase in flow and the drag of material that affected vehicle passage,” he said.
He explained that, although a state of emergency has not been declared, since local response capacity has not been exceeded, alert levels are maintained in four municipalities: San Judas Tadeo, Panamericano, García de Hevia in the northern part of the state and Junín.
He also warned about soil saturation in high areas. “We observed intermittent active slopes with erosive escarpments and mud flows,” he explained.
In this regard, he called for respect for the Water Law, recalling that buildings must maintain a minimum retreat of 80 meters from tributaries to avoid tragedies during the rainy season.
