Claudia Rengifo won gold in the Junior World Weightlifting Championships

The Venezuelan Claudia Rengifo won the gold medal in the starting modality with a new Pan-American record, silver in envión and also in total in the 69 kg division at the Junior World Weightlifting Championship, in Ismailia, Egypt.

China's Jiwei Lin won the world title of the Olympic total with a 245 kg mark, followed by Rengifo who added 239 kg. The podium was completed by the Albanian Ekileda Carja with a sum of 229 kg, according to the press release of the Ministry of People's Power for Sport.

The Venezuelan began her participation with the best record of the series at the start, lifting 101 kg in her first attempt, surpassing her closest rivals at the time, China's Jinwei Lin with 100 kg and the Turkish Nur Coz with 105 kg.

Later, Rengifo equaled Lin with 105 kg, but the Asian athlete achieved 107 kg in her last attempt, forcing the Venezuelan representative to climb to 108 kg in her third chance.

Rengifo effectively completed the last 108 kg movement to win the gold medal at the start, setting a new Pan-American record for the category.

The fight in Envión Rengifo achieved 126 kg in its first movement, while the Asian one lifted 130 kg. The Guaireña successfully climbed to 131 kg in her second attempt. However, the Chinese representative responded with 133 kg.

Rengifo proposed 134 kg in his last appearance on the platform, but was unable to specify it.

Instead, Jiwei, Lin finished with 138 kg, securing gold in the specialty, while the Albanian Carja finished in third place with 125 kg.

For her part, Diana Bellorin won the bronze medal in the Olympic total in the 63 kg division with 239 kg, a product of 115 kg at the start (fourth place) and 124 kg in the envión (fourth place).
